The Sheboygan Symphony Chorus is currently directed by Wilhelmina Nelmes Vogtle.
During the summer of 1994, Janet L. Herrick, Director Emeritus, then a Professor of Music at Lakeland Collvege, formed a chorus to perform with the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra. Respected local music educator Frank Berger was selected as Assistant Conductor and Accompanist. They held auditions to find local talent and performed Handel’s Messiah during the 1994 holiday season. To this day, the chorus performs in several concerts per year and is composed of over 80 community voices.
The Chorus has had the opportunity to present some of history’s most respected masterworks and grow in artistry and technique. They have demonstrated talent with moving and expressive singing in varied styles and languages. Their opening performance in the Weill Center, with the exciting finale from Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, was a performance never to be forgotten.
