Talented Young Musicians & Creative Repertoire to be featured at SAYS Spring Concert

Talented young musicians & creativE repertoire FEATURED AT SAYS’ SPRINThe Sheboygan Area Youth Symphony (SAYS) will be performing on Sunday, April 23rd at 3:00 pm at Sheboygan Falls High School Auditorium.

mlzbw 004Concert Orchestra Director Michael Lund Ziegler stated, "I am looking forward to my final concert with the concert orchestra; they've been incredible to work with and I will miss them. We have one unusually exciting program to present, including a performance by young musician competition winner Alex Oty. Join us as we offer our final hurrah for the 16-17 season."

The SAYS Concert Orchestra performs Sibelius’ Karelia Suite, Op. 11, originally conceived as one work, but published with separate opus numbers; the 2nd movement of Handel's Oboe Concerto no. 3 in G minor, featuring young musician competition Sinfonia winner, Alex Oty; and Korean composer Kyu Tae Kim’s  Arirang Fantasy .

Fabian QamarFabian Qamar, Director of Sinfonia stated, "Heading full speed into the home stretch of our first year, I am delighted to invite one and all to experience the beautiful music of the youngest musicians in our Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra family. Sinfonia will be covering a broad and intriguing stylistic gamut, include music from the worlds of opera, ballet, and traditional South African music, as well old and new favorites from the European classical orchestral tradition. Come enjoy this music with us!"

SAYS Sinfonia will present Handel’s  La Rejouissance from "Royal Fireworks Music, Arr. Richard Meyer;  Puccini’s O Mio Babbino Caro from Gianni Schicchi, Arr. Sandra Dackow;   Arensky’s Danse des Ghazies, from Nuits d'Egypte, Arr. Victor López; and Douglas E. Wagner’s Ancient Echoes of Time and Siyahamba, Arr. Douglas E. Wagner.

Established to provide an enriching musical experience for Sheboygan area young musicians, SAYS augments the musical offerings of area schools with additional instruction and performance opportunities. Most of these students stay involved in music throughout their lives. The Youth Symphony is a full orchestra made up of 112 students from 12 different Sheboygan county communities.  There are 59 students in Concert Orchestra and 53 students in Sinfonia who will perform 3 public concerts and educational concert tours this season. The Orchestra is proudly co-sponsored by the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra and the Sheboygan Area School District.

  1. The concert is Sunday, April 23rd at 3:00 pm at Sheboygan Falls High School Auditorium.
  2. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $6 for students and seniors.
  3. Tickets are available at the door on the day of the concert.
